Emmanuel's life is difficult. He's reached mid-life only to grapple with a myriad of family issues, including a second wife and her firebrand daughter, played by Juliette Binoche. As if the second time around were not enough, he must also contend with a daughter from his first marriage who can't understand why things aren’t as they once were. An earnest, realistic depiction of the opposite of domestic tranquility, La Vie de famille (1985) is a quietly harrowing glimpse of modern life. Fear not, however, as the journey is made more palatable by extended scenes of Binoche's bodacious boobage.
