Kirsten Robek, aka Lauren K. Robek, aka Kirsten Robeck, may have had a little trouble figuring out what to be credited as, but she had no problem racking up the credits, having earned over 100 acting gigs on her showbiz resume, in a career that’s spanned almost three decades. The Toronto, Ontario, Canada, native made her debut in the TV movie Susie Q (1996), and has been working steadily ever since. Her first regular gig in a TV series was playing Nurse Davies in the US series Mercy Point from 1998-1999, and her first bit of nudity was playing Lauren in the Canadian TV movie Avalanche Alley (2001), where side boob happens during a fire-lit scene with co-star Ed Marinaro. While these may not have been award-winning performances or programs, Kirsten is no stranger to the Leo Awards, British Columbia’s big accolades show. She earned nominations for her work as Bellino/Angiola in Evirati (2000) and as Linda Bennett in the Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: A Very Foul Play (2019), and took home the Leo for Short Drama: Best Performance by a Female for her role as Judy in The Watchers (2003). Before she became an actress, she was a ballet dancer, and graduated from York University in Toronto with a BFA degree. She also attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, which seems only fitting since she’s done a whole lot of US stuff in addition to Canadian stuff. American audiences will probably remember her as Francine in Faces in the Crowd (2011) with Milla Jovovich, Charlotte in Assault on Wall Street (2013) with Dominic Purcell, as Krista’s mom in The Edge of Seventeen(2016) with Hailee Steinfeld, and as the Pie mom and Max’s mom in the Cats & Dogs movies (2001, 2020).
