Isabelle Maltese is one of France’s most recognizable character actresses, having appeared in such roles as a pub mistress, a police inspector, and “la toxico” in 1998’s Le Cousin. Most of her talents have been squandered on comedies, which in France translates into a drama with a silly title like Charlie Dingo or Talkie-Walkie. Thankfully, though, in her debut performance in 1987’s Fu**ing Fernand, which purports to being a “war-comedy” (Gee whiz, Beaver. There just isn’t anything funnier than war!)
