After losing her fire-fighting husband in a Kyoto fire in Hakujasho (1983), Uta Ishidate (Rumiko Koyanagi) is ready to commit suicide. Her life is saved by a kindly Buddhist monk who welcomes her into his temple and offers to marry her. What he doesn’t know is that his son from his first marriage has lost his heart to Uta as well after peeping her in the nude. And with four nude scenes from the fetching Rumiko, it’s likely you’ll fall for her too. Koyanagi won the Japanese academy award for best actress for her performance in this film.
