Fando y Lis (1968) is kooky counterculturist Alejandro Jodorowsky's first feature-length film. Based loosely on a play by Al's performance-art pal Fernando Arrabal, this flu-fever fare follows Fando (Sergio Klainer) and his wagon-bound woman, Lis (Diana Mariscal), as they tool around in tough terrain searching for Tar. No, they aren't just smoking a lot: it's a mystical city! The trip to Tar is fraught with freaks, muddy geeks, sightless seers, and old ladies chomping on peaches and kissing away the pits. And of course, this long, strange surrealist trek would be the pits if there weren't some tits along for the ride, so Diana's fruits sweeten the trip for lucky Sergio, who gets to peep her ripe rind and paint his name all over her produce.
