European Vacation (1985) is our kind of trip. Hilarious and sexy, just like we like it. This is also a bit of a landmark, the fourth and final teaming of Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo in the series. It’s written by John Hughes and directed by Amy Heckerling, and ages well, as funny as it was when first released. And it was mighty funny then, as all the Vacation movies are. The premise of this is that the Griswalds accidentally win a family quiz show that sends them on a whirlwind four-countries-in-four-days tour of Europe. Naturally, there’s conflict and slapstick galore, as there must be in any comedy, but to detail these plot points would be to spoil the fun. What we will says is Beverly shows side-boob and when son Rusty gets lucky in Germany with Claudia Neidig she bares boobs. There’re also topless dancers, anonymous, but no less appreciated.
