Ecstasy (1933)

Back when Hedy Lamarr was Hedy Keisler, and nudity was reserved for French postcards and dirty decks of playing cards, Czech director Gustav Machatý tossed out the erotic firecracker Ecstasy (1932), not to be confused with the fantastical mystery Ecstasy (2018). Also known as Extase in Czech, Extase in French, and Ekstase in German, this skinternational pic was shot in three separate languages. And, oh, how Mr. Skin adores a foreign tongue! What else would one expect from an Austro-Hungarian-born American actress? The film’s plot centers around a young bride named Eva (Lamarr). After she discovers that her old husband Emil (Zvonimir Rogoz) is impotent, the lusty leading lady decides to have an affair with a handsome hunk named Adam (Aribert Mog). If the lovers on screen are Adam and Eva, then you may be housing the snake. This is especially true when you get a gander at Hedy’s three Bs on camera! Just 29 minutes into the movie, the nude beauty shows off her pale breasts ever so quickly when she goes skinny-dipping. If that’s not arousing enough, she offers bush and butt reflections in the water. The gorgeous starlet is equally alluring on land since she runs completely naked through the fields. In other words, you’ll be packing wood when Hedy flashes her chest, rump and muff in the woods! With advertisements of the day declaring Ecstasy “the most whispered about picture in the world, Hedy’s career was on the rise — just like the trousers on yesteryear’s audience members!
