A loving updating of cheese-and-sleaze master director Brian De Palma’s 1976 classic of the same name, Carrie delights and distresses with the emotional straits of a high-school girl blessed and cursed with an uncontrollable case of telekinesis. Classmates can be so cruel at that age. Although the mean kids might have been a great degree kinder if they’d ever seen Carrie the original and learned the deadly lesson in manners it had to teach them.
