Carol Ohmart was born in Salt Lake City in the Roaring '20s as Armelia Carol Ohmart. The daughter of a dentist and a Mormon, she was raised in Seattle, though she ultimately moved back to her home state after the divorce of her parents. You could say that showbiz found her and not vice versa; she got her first break by winning a baby beauty contest. Soon enough, she was on stage in a vaudeville act with her uncle, all before winning Miss Utah and subsequently participating in the Miss America pageant. In the 1950s, Carol found commercial and TV work before catching the attention of Hollywood producers and starring in several big screen features like House on Haunted Hill (1959). Though she was typecast as "the next Marilyn Monroe," Carol never made it to the same explosive level of fame that Marilyn did—but this blonde was just as drop dead gorgeous! She proved this in Spider Baby (1967) by stripping off her clothes to fight another woman in nothing but her underwear. In that and another scene, she shows off a cleavage so shapely that it's hard to believe that the film is from the '60s. (Cleavage was perfected in the '90s, right?) Carol's acting career slowed down afterward, and she instead spent time getting in touch with her spiritual side. Her spiritual awakening led her into several vocations, including poetry, gardening, and oil painting. Ms. Ohmart passed away in 2002 and we're oh, so happy that we got to see her skin on screen.
