Beating Hearts (2024) is a French star-crossed romantic thriller spanning two decades and based on the novel Jackie Loves Johnser OK? by Irish author Neville Thompson. When 15-year old Jackie (Mallory Wanecque), a girl from a well-to-do background, meets 17-year old drifter Clotaire (Malik Frikah), sparks fly. Though their class differences keep them apart, they are separated when Clotaire ends up in prison. Twelve years later, Jackie—now played by Blue is the Warmest Color's Adèle Exarchopoulos—wants to reconnect with Clotaire (François Civil), but he tries to keep her at arm's length due to his criminal activity. However, there's no accounting for love, and Jackie just might be willing to become a criminal if it means being with the man she loves!
