American Crime Story (2016-2021)

American Crime Story is a sister show to producer Ryan Murphy's American Horror Story, using a similar one season, one story formula, but instead of fantastical and horrifying fictional events, this series focuses on real life American crimes. The 2016 first season brought Ed Wood and The People vs Larry Flynt scribes Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski back together to craft "The People vs. OJ Simpson," with an all-star cast that included Cuba Gooding Jr. taking on the title role, Courtney B. Vance, John Travolta, and Nathan Lane making up his Dream Team defense lawyers Johnny Cochrane, Robert Shapiro, and F. Lee Bailey, respectively, and Sarah Paulson and Sterling K. Brown playing prosecutors Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden. Season two came along in 2018 with "The Assassination of Gianni Versace," with Édgar Ramirez in the title role, Darren Criss playing his assassin Andrew Cunanan, and Penélope Cruz as Gianni's sister Donatella. In 2021, a third season came to fruition with "Impeachment" centered around the scandalous final years of Bill Clinton's presidency. Jonah Hill's sister Beanie Feldstein starred as Monica Lewinsky alongside Sarah Paulson as Linda Tripp, Clive Owen and Edie Falco as the Clintons, and Annaleigh Ashford as original Clinton accuser Paula Jones. It was Annaleigh Ashford who brought us the first female nude scene in the entire series in the third season's tenth episode, baring her buns while recreating Jones' infamous Penthouse photoshoot. With an announced fourth season focusing on New York City's infamous haven of hedonism, Studio 54, we're hoping there will be a lot more nudity in the show's future. To not give us more skin would be the real crime!
