Van Vlees en Bloed

A family run butcher shop is at the center of the Dutch series Van Vlees en Bloed. Maria Vangenechten (Reinhilde Decleir) has been the owner and figurehead of the family charcuterie for 50 years, with her son Andre (Lucas Van den Eynde) handling the day to day operations of the shop. The business has been doing very well until Maria’s grandson Rudy (Tom De Wispelaere) returns from a 10-year absence and wants to take his place in the trade. His mother and grandmother are overjoyed to have him back, but his father, Andre, is not ready to welcome him with open arms.The series title, which translates to “from flesh and blood”, refers to the family business, but also brings to mind the skin shown by delicious Dutch streusel Maaike Neuville. She’ll send all the blood running to your crotch!
