Fidelity, like so many absolute concepts, in reality often results in an elastic arrangement that can lead to misunderstandings, suspicions, resentments, and plots to kill a cheating bitch and pin her murder on the creep who’s been boning her behind your back. The rich and revered composer whose drippingly luscious wife provides the lust interest of Unfaithfully Yours (1984) is a man riding a razor-sharp conundrum. His ego, his outlook, and his procreative organ are all puffed up by laying claim to a passionate, world-class beauty one half his age. The only problem is that he cannot fully believe his luck. Surely his nubile wife’s unconditional devotion must have at least one exception, a loophole through which some conniving snake might conceivably insert itself. All it takes is one seed of doubt in the composer’s mind to turn a celebration of Eros into a symphony of errors.
