The Good Lord Bird (2020)

The Good Lord Bird (2020) is a comedic drama loosely based on the story of abolitionist John Brown and based on a popular book. We follow a runaway slave named Onion (who is fictional, by the way) who joins Brown's group of abolitionist soldiers as they seek vengeance on slave owners and Confederate soldiers in Kansas. All of this leads to the 1869 Army depot raid at Harpers Ferry which is often considered a pivotal citing incident of the American Civil War. Ethan Hawke plays John Brown who is a religious zealot and abolitionist who fights a bloody war. He also created this series, so it's clear that Ethan really wanted to play this role. He's on the side of the good guys even though he has some very extreme views. This is a star-studded cast that includes Hamilton's Daveed Diggs as Frederick Douglas. Ethan's real-life daughter Maya Hawke stars as Annie who we get to see wash herself off in a bath basin. This beautiful babe washes herself off while goofing around with a woman wearing her skivvies. Maya never shows us much more than her bare shoulders and legs, but this is definitely a scene that teases us. Good lord, Maya is one pretty bird.
