The Day the Earth Stopped (2008)

The direct-to-DVD sci-fi “mockbuster” The Day the Earth Stopped (2008) stars C. Thomas Howell as federal agent Josh Myron. One night, Myron intercepts a naked woman (Sinead McCafferty) who is walking the streets, only to learn that she is Sky, an alien whose arrival is connected to the simultaneous arrival of 666 giant robots in all of Earth’s major cities. To stop Sky from setting the robots on a destructive rampage to wipe out the population of Earth and its nuclear weapons, he has to prove to her that mankind is worth saving before sunrise.
