There is something about this time of year between Halloween and Christmas that makes me want to watch 90s romantic movies. I can't explain it! Maybe it's the fact that a lot of them take place in the fall or maybe there is just something so alluring about watching gorgeous 90s icons get out of their sweaters and show off their suck sacks.
You might not even remember the hot nudity from these movies. Of course, there is nudity in romantic movies! Sex scenes often cinch the deal in these films, giving us glimpses of female nudity when the pair prove how much they love one another in sensual scenes together. Let me show you some of what you might be missing:
Pretty Woman
In 1990 Julia Roberts was THE young woman everyone wanted a piece of. She proved that she was romantic comedy leading lady material by starring in Pretty Woman alongside Richard Gere. She played a sex worker who really should be charging A LOT more than she was based on her perfect looks. A millionaire hires her to be his personal "worker" and they wind up falling for each other. They also wind up showing Julia's jugs!
Jerry Maguire
He had her at Hello, but Kelly Preston had us at her body being totally nude while leaning over a table to feed Tom Cruise. Even though sports agent Tom Cruise winds up sweeping the young and charismatic Renee Zellweger off her feet, Kelly Preston's perfect pair is certainly worth falling head over heels for. We wanted someone to show us the money, and Kelly Preston did!
Caroline at Midnight
A neo-noir romance that has mostly been forgotten is the steamy Caroline at Midnight. This 1993 film stars lovely ladies like Virginia Madsen as a mob kingpin and Mia Sara as a femme fatale. Mobs and romance mix in this fun noir sendup. The best part is certainly Mia Sara's pair that we are privy to on multiple occasions. Now that's a rack to fall in love with!
Shakespeare in Love
Gwyneth Paltrow proved that she had real acting chops when she starred as a young lady who posed as a man to star in Shakespearean plays. She acted as a man onstage and acted as his muse when they got busy in the boudoir. This role led to Gwyneth winning an Oscar and I think it was well-deserved. At the very least, unbinding her boobs from her corset was award-worthy!
Mississippi Masala
Mira Nair's romantic 90s film was genuinely sweet. Starring Denzel Washington and Sarita Choudhury, she told the story of a mixed cultural relationship between a Black man from the American South and an Indian woman. The two of them overcome their cultural difference while trying to fit in to society. How do they do this? Well, by making love to one another. We get to see Denzel taste Sarita's nipples. Those look sweeter than chai!
