Playwright Celyn Jones adapts his own work with the help of his co-writer Kaite O’Reilly and co-director Tom Stern into a film featuring Rebel Wilson and Charlotte Gainsbourg as an archeologist and an architect, respectively, whose spouses both suffer from traumatic brain injuries that have triggered debilitating memory loss. Sarah’s (Wilson) husband Joe (Jones) had a brain tumor removed and the loss of memory is accompanied by dangerous mood swings and impulsivity, while Toni’s (Gainsbourg) partner of several years Gwen (Trine Dyrholm) was in an accident that has rendered her unable to retain memories from the previous day upon waking. Their lives intersect when both spouses are brought in to see TBI expert Dr. Falmer (Meera Syal), and Sarah and Toni end up connecting through their strained relationships. We get a few peeks at Charlotte in just a shirt and undies while with both ladies, but it’s her sweet lesbian liplock with Rebel that’ll be hard to forget.
