French and Spanish beauty Sophie Amieva grew up in France and now spreads her love of experiential theatre in her adopted home of New York City. Sophie's love of clowning and the art of clown performance led her to study at the hilariously named but surprisingly prestigious International Jacques Lecoq School. She also studied Commedia Dell'Arte, the Italian comedic theatrical form that gave birth to broad, slapstick comedy, in Milan under world renowned teacher Carlo Boso (aka Boso the Clown). Most of Sophie's work, therefore, has been done on stage, but she's worked on stages all over the world, so there's a good chance if you've seen a modern clown or Commedia style production in the last decade, Sophie was involved in one way or another. She is also entering her second decade as a teacher of physical comedy at New York University's Tisch School for the Performing Arts, and has taught children's theatre across the city with a bilingual learning troupe she co-created called Brooklyn Beanstalk. Very rarely has she stepped off the stage and onto the screen, but it has happened a couple of times. The most notable, in our mind, came in the eccentric short film Plaisir (2021), where Sophie briefly appeared topless as part of a ritual happening in a hedge maze of some sort, giving us a couple of quick looks at her bare breasts! The real star of that show, however, is Eleanore Pienta, who dances completely nude at the end! Still, we're not clowning around when we say that Sophie Amieva really honks our horn!
