There’s a scene in the Lisbeth Salander movie The Girl in the Spider’s Web (2018) where a naked woman is seen walking down the hallway. In the distance, you can make out a bit of bush, and when she turns a corner, there’s enough visible to see she’s a toned work of art with small, pert breasts, and a huge tattoo across her back. That’s Sonja Chan, in the appropriately titled role of “Naked Asian Woman.” While the tattoo isn’t real, the rest of her is, and it’s a sight to admire and behold. The actress was born in Vienna, was a child model by the age of five, and often entertained guests in her parents’ restaurant while growing up. Not surprisingly, she graduated from the Film Academy Vienna at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. Right after, she got a lead role in a play, and a spot in a McDonald’s commercial. In addition to her theater work, she’s been popping up all over Austria and Germany, and can even been seen as a dark elf in the US movie Grimm’s Snow White (2012), which was filmed in Austria. If you prefer to watch things in other languages, Sonja can oblige with her role as Petra in the movie Hopped Up – Peaceful Drug (2013), or as the character Shen Shen in the TV mini-series Wienerland (2014), which won 52 different awards, every one it was nominated for, including a couple of Los Angeles Film Awards. And in case you were wondering, no, it isn’t about acres of male body parts. It’s actually a fantasy, adventure western with imperial forces and mysterious creatures. Like Sonja.
