What sets SK Kölsch apart from many other German crime series is the local Cologne flavor the show adds to its characters, locations, and cases. As a result it has been running rather successfully since 1999 starting with the pilot Karneval des Todes. It centers on Jupp Schatz (Uwe Fellensiek), who is the head of a police homicide unit in Cologne. Throughout thirty-seven episodes in three seasons, Schatz and his partners Klaus Taube (Christian Goebel / 1999-2001) and Falk von Schermbeck (Dirk Martens / 2002-present) already had to deal with religious serial killers, arsonists, kidnappers, and various other twisted fucks! Nudity? Due to the fact that this is a German prime-time series, we are treated to all kinds of nudity including male frontals (which I could have done without). Guest star Edda Leesch unwrapped her neat chest in an episode entitled Ruhe in Frieden. The only one able to break this non-female-nude spell was Sharon Brauner who showed off a little beaver during a sex-scene in a shower (episode Die Queen des Swing).
