Actor John Tuturro wrote and directed Romance & Cigarettes (2005), an exploration of adultery, exile, and redemption . . . set to music! James Gandolfini is Nick Murder, a working-class fella who builds bridges. But when he meets captivating Kate Winslet, he starts burning bridges between himself, his three daughters, and his wife (the always stunning Susan Sarandon). When Susan learns that James has been having a fling with lingerie-shop looker Kate, she kicks him out of the house, leaving him weighing his options and trying to figure out what really matters to him. It will take a tragic twist to teach James to cherish what he's got. In addition to the all-star trio of James, Kate, and Susan, Romance & Cigarettes features appearances by Steve Buscemi, Mandy Moore, Christopher Walken, Eddie Izzard, and Elaine Stritch, plus lots of lip syncing to the songs that best express what the characters can't bring themselves to say.
