Not content to simply give us It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Megan Ganz, and David Hornsby have also created the Apple TV series Mythic Quest, which first aired just prior to the great 2020 pandemic in February of that year. Thanks to everyone being home a lot more in front of their television in those days, the first season got off to a great start ratings wise and the show was renewed for a second season. McElhenney stars as Ian Grimm, creator of the legendary titular online multiplayer game, who opens the series in the midst of a major crisis just prior to the launch of his game's new expansion, Raven's Banquet. Ian runs into almost constant conflict with his lead engineer Poppy Li (Charlotte Nicdao) leading to all sorts of battle of the sexes type incidents viewed through the prism of these people working to produce a fantasy game beloved by millions of online subscribers. Basically, it's their answer to GamerGate and the stereotypes surrounding women and their contributions—perceived or actual—to the world of gaming. Thankfully the boys did get a woman on board in creating the series and there's plenty of sexy nerdy type women throughout the series, which is always welcome, even if they're being at least slightly objectified! While the show's first season was completely skinless, season two did introduce some lesbianic intrigue into the mix as game testers Dana (Imani Hakim) and Rachel (Ashly Burch) give in to their burning desires and share a sapphic smooch! It's true what they say, 'tis nothing more mystic in the world of fantasy online gaming than seeing two women kiss!
