A fictional tale based on real historical context, this Spanish-language drama tells the story of Chelo, Itzi, and Idoia - three female athletes in the 1920s trying to break into the male-dominated sport of competitive pelotas, which is a Spanish court game that resembles a combination of squash and jai alai. The sportswomen have to face a number of obstacles mostly relating to gender and sexual discrimination. One has to fake an abortion to compete, one is blacklisted by her own father for being gay, and another gets tangled up with the mafia due to financial issues.
