Kings of Jo'Burg (2020-2023)

This South African action fantasy series follows the Masire brothers, rulers of Johannesburg’s criminal underworld. Mogomosit (Zolisa Xaluva), or Mo , is an ex-con who recently did ten years for the heist he committed with his brother Simon, and partners in crime Amanda and Menzi, all of whom left him to take the rap. While Mo’s locked away, Simon (the show’s creator Shona Ferguson) who has a wife and a son, falls in love with Mo’s wife, Angela, and the two get married. Rather than take revenge, Mo struggles to lead a calm, drama-free life with his new lady, but not only does his criminal past try to drag him back in, but at the Masires are haunted by an old family curse involving a mermaid. It took two years for the second season to be released due to the Covid pandemic and the unexpected death of Shona, but the show comes back with some skin, when Tk Sebothoma’s Tloto Masire and his crew party with a bunch of topless strippers while Busiswe Tala’s Mimi leaves an anxious phone message wearing a sexy push-up nighty in episode three. It’s a scene that’ll have you handling jo’bulge!
