Half Canadian, half American, half Asian, and half Manhattanite, Jeananne Gooseen is all woman. She’s a dual citizen of both countries in North America, and was raised in Toronto, New York, and in various cities in Japan. Her mom is from Hong Kong, and her dad is a professor and famous translator of Japanese fiction; Jeananne herself is fluent in French, Japanese, and English. She originally went to school in Canada with the intention of being a gynecologist, but got bitten by the acting bug and the rest is history. She started off in two major roles on Canadian TV shows, as Serenity in 11 Cameras in 2006, and Courtney True in Falcon Beach in 2007, then followed it up with her first big-screen part, as Nula in Canada’s Breakfast with Scot(2007) with Tom Cavanaugh. She nabbed role after role in Canada—scored more TV series parts on Wild Roses and Aaron Stone in 2009, in the TV movies The Dealership and The B Team—then slowly made her way into US territory with a role as Tomoe Gozen in the Syfy Channel movie Riverworld (2010), and on pop-ups in series like Suits, and CSI: NY in 2011. After she joined Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams in The Vow(2012), she officially made the move to Los Angeles and celebrated by landing multiple recurring roles on primetime TV. She was Private Joan Matteson in NCIS, Nikki in Alcatraz, Molly in Emily Owens M.D., Jennifer in The Following, and a very, very, sexy Monica with terrifically awesome cleavage in NCIS: Los Angeles in 2013. She played series regular Dr. Krista Bell-Hart on The Night Shift from 2014-2015, sang as Vita Martin on Nashville in 2016, and played Aunt Ruth in The Handmaid’s Tale in 2021.
