Drexell's Class

Man, how’s THIS for a love letter to the teaching profession: when Otis Drexell (the ever-gruff Dabney Coleman) is fingered as a thief, he’s fired from his stockbroking gig. As something to fall back on, he reluctantly agrees to become a high school teacher. How nice. (Why not just make a series about a no-bullshit teacher who – ironically – hates kids???) Despite a truly entertaining (and nasty) screen presence, Coleman continued his stunning streak of failed sitcoms with this 1991 dud. Eagle-eyed fans may remember young versions of Matthew Lawrence, Brittany Murphy, and Jason Biggs as some of the students. I bet the actors wish you didn’t.
