Biography

Brazilian babe Carla Ribas made her film debut in the Rear Window-style thriller O Outro Lado da Rua (2004), aka The Other Side of the Street, but it was her second project, a lead role in the 2007 drama Alice’s House that won her acclaim. Her bare-breasted performance as the titular Alice, complete with a beautifully thick set of nipples, won her best actress awards at the Guadalajara Mexican Film Festival, the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival, the São Paulo Association of Art Critics Awards, and the São Paulo International Film Festival—not to mention a nomination for a Cinema Brazil Grand Prize, Brazil’s version of an Academy Award. Possibly figuring the name Alice would bring her luck, she went on to star in the Portugese-language HBO series Alice, playing Irislene Aparecida de Paula Zanetti in 2008; she reprised the role again for a follow-up miniseries, Alice: A Special in Two Parts (2010). The Rio de Janeiro native won more accolades for her role as Regina in the film Campo Grande (2015), and although US audiences won’t see her in any Hollywood productions, you can catch her as Samira Rangel in the Netflix series The Mechanism in 2018, and in another big red N production, as Ana in Reality Z in 2020. Brazil television fans recognize and admire Carla as the character Cíntia in the television series Oscar Freire 279 from 2011-2012, as Stella in Call Me Bruna in 2016, and as Dona Eugênia in Under Pressure in 2017. Mr. Skin wants to do a reference to Alice here, but there are so many good ones, it’s too hard to pick. Wonderland? Mel’s Diner? Beatrice Sparks? Cooper? So many Alices, so little time…
