Black & White Episode 1: The Dawn of Assault (2012)

Black & White Episode 1: The Dawn of Assault (2012) is actually a prequel to 2009's Black & White. The Taiwanese action flick is unusual—the explosions and high-speed car chases are usually left for Hollywood, with few local flicks boasting these kind of gratuitous special effects. The plot take an interesting spin on the innocent-man-running story we've seen so many times at home, though: A gangster, caught in the middle of a bad diamond deal, teams up with a policeman to evade hit men and ruthless militants alike. What they don't know is that this is about far more than diamonds, and all of Harbor City (and perhaps humanity) is depending on them to figure it out.  The two hapless men would be nowhere without the beautiful scientist, played by Angelababy. She helps them figure out what's in the case, getting sprayed by broken glass and stripping off her shirt to tend to her wounds in the midst of the mayhem. One thing every action movie seems to understand? If you're going to have to save humanity, it's best to do it with the help of a sexy woman.
