Low-budget Canadian filmmaking reached its zenith with Autumn Born (1979), an oddly depressing yet titillating exploitation showcase for blonde bombshell and soon-to-be Playboy centerfold Dorothy Stratten. No holes are barred as Dorothy is beaten, starved, undressed, assaulted and brainwashed by a team of perverts hired by her uncle, who wants her to sign over her inheritance. This Dorothy ain't in Kansas anymore. Even more disturbing is that the film mirrors the tragic real trajectory of Dorothy's short life.
