Aprendiendo a amar

If there was any doubt that this series was a telenovela, the translated title of Learning To Love should dispel that doubt immediately. This 1979 Mexican soapie starred eternal soap queen Susan Dosamontes as a doctor whose life would change big time when her best friend (Jupita D’Allessio) introduces her to her married-but-lonely millionaire father (Ernesto Alonso), who in turn falls head over heels for doc Dosamontes. Cue much 70’s Mexican TV angst, some hammy acting, some awful writing (even by telenovela standards) and a very short run on screens. Co-star Alonso also produced, something he’s been doing, along with directing, since the 1960 serial El Otro and continues to do to this day.
