Truth Be Told (2019-2023)

Octavia Spencer stars as journalist Poppy Parnell in this drama series based on the novel Are You Sleeping by Kathleen Barber. In the show’s first season, Poppy starts a true crime podcast about a 1999 murder of a Stanford professor she previously covered when it looks like the man convicted may be innocent. Then in the second season, she’s asked by the wife of a photographer/filmmaker to look into her husband’s murder, and season three Poppy works with a high school principal to look into the disappearances of a number of young girls. Gabrielle Union plays Principal Eva Pierre, who Poppy suspects is hiding something, which is revealed to audiences as having to do with a woman we see her making out with in the rain outside a club. In between smooches we learn the two met on a dating app where Eva uses the handles Bottom 2 Top Energy. If only we got to see Gabrielle’s naked top or bottom!
