The Van (1976)

“Bobby couldn’t make it,” says the movie poster for The Van (1977), “till he went fun-truckin’!” Things certainly do look up for star Stuart Goetz once he saves up enough money from his car wash job to get a cool customized van. He also discovers the evil van underground after he falls for the girlfriend of a van fanatic who’s a true road warrior. Oh, and he gets into debt to car wash owner Danny DeVito--ironically, fresh from having all of his scenes cut out of Car Wash (1976). Who knew that Sammy Johns’s dopey AM radio hit could lead to this kind of craziness? In fact, that simple pop tune becomes downright revolutionary thanks to skintastic contributions from Marcie Barkin, Connie Lisa Marie, Lilyan McBride, Deborah White, and Cherise Wilson.
