When a teenage girl (Sarah Patterson) falls asleep while reading a magazine, she enters a dark dreamworld of fantastical 19th century rural villages, where her sister has been torn to shreds by wolves, and she's forced to live with her granny (Angela Lansbury). Granny's a storyteller, who likes to tell the young girl fairy tales infused with sexual references and cautionary morals, and begs her to stay away from dudes with unibrows. She doesn't listen, falls for a very forward fella, and has to deal with this werewolf knowing just how to make her his prey. Interspersed with that frame tale are a bunch of other werewolf stories, with the wolves being different in many ways but always being super horny dudes ready to strip down and eat up some beautiful woman. Based on a short story by Angela Carter, who wrote adapted this feminist take on the tale of Little Red Riding Hood with director Neil Jordan, the flick's structure is rather unique, as characters are constantly telling each other stories, only for the characters in their story to show up in another character's story. Noted for its werewolf transformations and feminist themes, it’s no surprise - or accident - that most of the wolves are men, save for a fully nude Danielle Dax as Wolfgirl, who wanders through a creepy forest showing off some moonlit boobs, butt, and bush that’ll have you howling for more. For a movie that portrays men as predators, it's ironic that they'd have one of England's hottest musicians going au naturale in a scene that had us hungry like the wolf, for more of Dax's rack! These days gritty fairy tale reboots are a dime a dozen, but this one deserves credit for being way ahead of the trend. You're in good company if you're a fan of The Company of Wolves
