Tuesday's troubled upbringing sometimes overshadows her impressive career. She became her family's breadwinner after her father died and her mother encouraged her to become a model. She suffered from alcoholism by the age of 10 and had a breakdown, but she was back in the game only two years later with a role in Alfred Hitchcock's The Wrong Man. After that, she quickly became a teen sensation...which also lead to some trouble with her mother. Her mom was upset about her philandering with older men, so Tuesday took her money and left her family at the age of sixteen. Now on her own and coming-of-age, there was no stopping her. She continued acting and successfully transitioned into adult roles in films like The Cincinnati Kid with the adorable Ann-Margret.
Tuesday actually became more famous in the sixties for turning down roles that would go on to be major hits. The staggering list includes Rosemary's Baby, Bonnie and Clyde, and Bob Carol Ted Alice.
She told The New York Timesin 1971 that she was simply against things that were too commercial like Bonnie Clyde. "The same was true of 'Bob and Carol and Fred and Sue' or whatever it was called. It reeked of success." Well, she was right about both of those films! She had a more comfortable time on television and in smaller films. She felt so comfortable, in fact, that she finally showed her breasts in 1980's Serial.
She left us all on a high note when she went topless nude in 2002's Intimate Affairs. After that, she left the business and opted for a quiet life in Colorado before relocating to the Hollywood Hills. She may hate fame, but she seems to like Hollywood.
