Radiant redhead Lola Naymark gets pregnant when her birth control doesn't work in Sequins (2004). Her lover, the baby's father, refuses to believe it's his, and so begins this young woman's journey into maturity, in more ways than as physically expressed by her bulging belly. Lola finds solidarity with the mother of a friend who died in a motorcycle accident, but the movie is more shocking in its blatant sexualizing of a young girl's pregnancy. If you go the way of bulbous bellies and milk-fed breasts--and who doesn't?--then this movie may answer an unspoken fetish for you. If not, the heartwarming story of self-worth against adversity is still worth the price of admission.
