Rebecca (2020)

Rebecca (2020) is a tale as old as time...or is it? A widower marries a beautiful new young lady, takes her to his sprawling coastal mansion, and then his dead wife's ghost appears to haunt the new couple. Classic, right? Well, it IS a classic based on the novel by Daphne Du Maurier and previously made into a film starring the great Lawrence Olivier. This new version stars Armie Hammer as the wealthy man named Maxim de Winter who marries his new Mrs. de Winter played by the effortlessly beautiful Lily James. After they have a beautiful romance in Monte Carlo, they get married and he moves her to his mansion affectionately named Manderley. Manderley is the same home that Maxim shared with his previous wife, Rebecca, who died tragically. However, strange things start happening as his new wife struggles to live in the same house that the dead wife once lived in with reminders of Rebecca everywhere looks. Is Rebecca haunting the new wife out of jealousy and spite or did something more sinister happen here? Of course, something more sinister happened, that's essentially what the story is. The good news is that Lily James gives us plenty to lust after when she wears her slinky swimsuits in the sea and even shows some pokies when she wears a silky white dress that is very flattering on her thin figure as she explores Manderley at night. Lily is so beautiful that it's a shame we don't watch her get Mander-laid!
