In this playlist we pay tribute to the movie that made the shower scene a little scarier. Psycho (1960) and its 1998 remake have a few skinworthy scenes, which warrants a comparative playlist, just to see how much more nudity gets added to Hollywood flicks over time. Janet Leigh gets into the shower in our first clip from Psycho (1960). Things seem harmless and normal enough, besides the eerie lack of music. Then the dark figure comes in behind the shower curtain, rips it open and starts stabbing away in Hitchcock’s choppy editing job, and cinema changed forever. If you look closely in the remake’s shower scene from 1998, more nudity shines through with the added color and altered camera angle on Anne Heche. Back to the original, Janet is walking around her room in a sexy black bra with her bags nearly packed and a wad of cash on the bed. In the remake Anne Heche changes the bra color to green, but from screen to screen, things look very similar. Janet is getting undressed in the bathroom, back in her black undergarments, while Anthony Perkins peeps on through a hole in the wall. Vince Vaughn is the one peeping through the hole in the remake, and Heche keeps the green color alteration. And from the original, Janet is now in a white bra and underwear making out with her dude on the bed.
