Susan Atkins, Woman in Prison

Mr. Skin loves Women in Prison moves like Caged Heat (1974), Chained Heat (1983), and Lust for Freedom (1987), filled as they are with lesbian lusts and fully frontal female flesh. But it’s rare that the website deals with any actual women in prison. This is one of those rare occasions.

The California board of parole hearings unanimously denied Charles Manson follower and convicted murderer Susan Atkins, terminally ill with weeks to live, a compassionate release from prison, where she has been for 37 years. And it’s unlikely she spent that whole time having lesbian sex in the shower, since she became a born-again Christian in 1974.

Here are some of Mr. Skin’s favorite Manson-inspired movies, notable for the generous servings of skin, sex, and shocks they serve up.

I Drink Your Blood (1970)

Psychedelic gore-fest I Drink Your Blood (commonly double-billed with the 1964 zombie flick I Eat Your Skin) earned an X-rating for it’s nonstop blood and sex, featuring a bevy of butts in a fireside orgy. Accomplished and internationally recognized Indian dancer Bhaskar Roy Chowdhury plays the hippie’s charismatic leader Horace Bones and future Score starlet Lynn Lowry shows off her sweater-stuffers. Lynn, Wethinkyou’re good!

The Love Thrill Murders (1971)

Put together in a hurry to cash in on the country’s Manson obsession, The Love Thrill Murders starred fading teen idol Troy Donahue and featured full frontal funbaggage and furburgerage from Joie Addison, Tallie Cochrane, Francine Middleton, and Lee Terri, plus some amazing lesbyterian ministrations. You’ll do a creepy crawl to the bathroom for some Kleenex!

The Manson Family (2003)

Underground maverick Jim Van Bebber’s The Manson Family is one of the darker depictions of the Family. Packed with transgressive images and fully nude hippies making with the free love, this one is a must-see for anyone with an interest in the grimy side of cult filmmaking or female flesh. Check out this clip on an all-out orgy held on the Spahn Ranch! Maybe Charlie wasn’t such a bad guy after all!.
