French director Olivier Assayas revisits his 1996 film, one of his most popular, with the HBO Original miniseries Irma Vep in 2022! Oscar winner Alicia Vikander steps into the lead role of Mira, an American actress whose recent implosion of both her career and personal lives has driven her to seek work overseas.
She soon lands in France where she'll be playing the lead role of Irma Vep in a remake of the silent film Les Vampires (1915). Then, much like Maggie Cheung in the original version, Mira's life begins to blend with Irma's life, leading her into a crisis of consciousness... or something to that effect. It's a real meta mind bender and commentary on the nature of acting and celebrity that's even more relevant more than 25 years later!
It took a while but the show finally got some skin in the game in its third episode when leading lady Alicia Vikander bared her buns and right breast while climbing into the shower! Irma will have you choking the worm-a!
