From 2007 through 2012, iCarly was a tween show on Nickelodeon that explored the newly burgeoning internet culture via a pair of best friends who had their own web show. When the streaming service Paramount+ launched in 2021, it proved to be the latest streaming service to revive old shows in hopes of attracting subscribers, hence the relaunched iCarly took flight. Miranda Cosgrove returned in the title role—though sadly her co-star Jennette McCurdy had left acting far behind her at this point—having moved back to Seattle where she shares an apartment with her new best friend and aspiring fashion designer Harper (Laci Mosley). A lot has happened in the decade between the end of the original series and the start of this one, namely Carly's roustabout brother Spencer (Jerry Trainor) has become a world renowned artist after "accidentally" creating a sculpture that caused a sensation in the art world. Don't worry, he's still a complete doofus. Carly's old producer Freddie (Nathan Kress) has also moved back to Seattle following two failed marriages and convinces Carly to restart her once popular web series. Hijinks ensue, naturally, but since the show is now courting the original series' former audience and not just the tween set, the antics are a bit more spicy than on the original Nickelodeon series. For example, Laci Mosley's character Harper is an out and proud lesbian and in the first season finale, she shares a sapphic smooch with Poppy Liu, a pop star who hired Harper as a stylist before the two became romantically involved! Hopefully the second season expands upon this relationship!
