Expecting Amy (2020)

What did you expect with Amy Schumer's first pregnancy?  She wasn't going to turn that hilariously filthy comedic mind back onto herself and show you the gross details of being pregnant and giving birth for the first time?  As we've come to expect from Amy with her "warts and all..." style of humor, she does just that with her 3-part HBO documentary about her difficult pregnancy to husband, chef Chris Fischer, entitled Expecting Amy.  The Trainwreck (2015) star kicks off the documentary series with a tearful confession at the zoo about how she just found out she is pregnant 2-days prior and how excited she is to be a first time mom.  It's enough to bring a tear to your eye learning that she is expecting as they intertwined old VHS footage or her as a kid with new footage of her and her husband embracing.  As the documentary rolls on, we get a behind the curtain peek at Amy's issues with extreme morning sickness, food cravings, body aches and pains, diarrhea, multiple trips to the hospital, and of course her dropping a new comedy special, as well as still getting up on stage to work out new material in the clubs around NYC.  As Amy is apt to do, she doesn't mind using her body to get a laugh as we've seen with her boob popping out scene in Snatched (2017).  This time though her boobs and butt, coupled with a pregnant belly, come along for the wild ride and she drops plenty of nudity in this one, more of it reveals the stuff that comes along with pregnancy and giving birth, but hey, her genius comedic mind and now proven to be functioning uterus gives us plenty to chuckle about, think about, and empathize with in this hilarious documentary!
