Dangerous Liaisons has been filmed so many times it’s hard to get the story of sexual betrayal straight. But in this TV mini-series from France, the country that gave the world the lurid novel from which the original story comes, may be the definitive version. It stars Catherine Deneuve as the vengeful ex-lover of Andrzeq Zulawski, who dumped her old ass for the young fun thing that is Leelee Sobieski. Catherine sends Rupert Everett, an infamous Don Juan, to make trouble in paradise. Evidently, she’s unaware that he’s gay. No matter, he ends up falling hard for the still-smoking beauty of Nastassja Kinski. Oh, what a tangled web we weave when a trio of trollops is concerned.
