Dance of the Forty One (2020) is a drama that takes place at the end of the 19th century in 1800s Mexico. Ignacio de la Torre marries the president's daughter and winds up doing a secretive balancing act between his two different identities. He rises the ranks of the political elite, but he has a secret in this real story that documents one of the biggest scandals in Mexican history. The secret double life? He and other men enjoy dressing in drag and getting together in balls. This scandal became known as the Ball of the Forty-One which was a secret society of early gay and drag performers who got together in secret to express themselves. When the police raid broke apart one of the society meetings, they discovered that Ignacio was there as well as other members of the upper echelon in Mexico.
