Review

Despite the dreary propaganda put out by the killjoys from Alcoholics Anonymous and those alarmist “intervention” reality shows, camaraderie, comedy, and valuable, palatable lessons in ethics and morality are never further away than a bustling neighborhood saloon, and we say Cheers to that. The habitual boozers of this landmark Boston bar were convivial, gainfully employed, and supportive of their fellow topers on adjacent stools, and they managed to stay that way for eleven years with never a trip to the cirrhosis ward or launching a violent-crimes investigation. Next time you encounter a bum or family member who can’t hold his liquor, do the right thing. Tell him to check into Cheers and shape up.
