Bob Newhart stars as Bob, a former comic book creator who has long since retired from the world he loves and gone on to creating greeting cards. But when the company that owns the rights to his character decides to bring him back as a vigilante, Bob is thrown into a whole new world. Hilarity never ensued. In fact, annoyance ensued from senor Newhart more often than not. After a lackluster first season, the show was retooled for season two, ditching the comic book angle and concentrating on greeting cards but the audience wasn’t there and nor, quite frankly, was Newhart. Even co-stars and bit players like Friends’ Lisa Kudrow, Newhart’s Tom Poston, All My Children’s Dorothy Lyman and the Golden Girls’ Betty White couldn’t pull this jet out of a nose dive it was destined to take.
