Wicked Little Letters (2024)

Based on a true story, this comedic mystery focuses on two neighbors living in 1920s England: Edith Swan (Olivia Colman), a God-fearing, unmarried woman still living with her parents, and Rose Gooding (Jesse Buckley), a bawdy, cussing Irish widow and mother of a young girl (Alisha Weir). At some point, the polar opposites tried to be friends but had a falling out, and now Edith is on the receiving end of a bunch of explicitly written and threatening letters that she, and almost everyone in town, believe are from Rose. Rose vehemently denies sending them, but the only one on her side seems to be Officer Gladys Moss (Anjana Vasan), who decides to try and solve the case against orders from her fellow officers. At one point in the trailer, a frustrated Rose runs off while lifting up her dress and we get a flash of Jesse’s naked bum as an “up yours” to the neighborhood. Hopefully that means the real wicked letters in this film are T and A!
