The short-lived Wild West Showdown was like a TNN version of American Gladiators. In this western-themed Gladiators spin off, contestants dressed as cowboys and cowgirls would square off in competitions such as saloon brawls and quick-draw paintball gunfights. Although the show had production values equivalent to those of parent program Gladiators, it was relegated to an overnight time slot in most markets and quickly earned a one-way ticket to boot hill. Other events on the show included being dragged behind a horse, running across a pond full of logs, getting to the top of the water tower, etc. As in Gladiators, the show had a cast of regulars to function as the black hats. They tried to prevent the contestants from accomplishing these tasks, either using brute strength or distracting them with contenders like "Silk" (played by stuntwoman Cheryl Lawson), a beautiful brunette Cowgirl who was as mean as a rattlesnake. Hey, she’s just doing her job! She was also doing her job when she got naked in the horror cult classic that’s so obscure it doesn’t even have a cult yet, The Dead Pit.
