Dracula is a fixture of Halloween with his story being told and retold in movies over and over again, so you might be surprised to hear one of the first vampire stories on record was actually about a female vampire. More specifically it was about a lesbian vampire. That's right! Carmilla by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu was a Gothic novella written in 1872, before Bram Stoker's Dracula. Forget Stoker. When you find out about Carmilla, you'll become a stroker.

Carmilla follows a teenage girl named Laura who once had a vision of a beautiful woman visiting her in her sleep. In this vision, the woman punctured her breast. Kinky! Years later, she meets a young woman named Carmilla who she feels an instant attraction to. She swears this woman was from her dream and moreover the woman claims to have also had that dream. Laura and Carmilla become inseparable and romantic. Spoiler alert: Laura discovers that Carmilla is actually a vampirenamed Countess Mircalla. They exhume her body and find Mircalla/Carmilla's body covered in blood, alive and with open eyes. They drive a stake through her heart and put an end to her vampirism and to Laura and Carmilla's relationship. So! That's the story. With lesbian lust and vampires, it'sgreat fodder for movies. Several movies have beenbased onCarmilla (even the 1932 silent film Vampyr which was shocking at its time for even suggesting lady lovers), including one called Carmilla that was released this very year!

Here are the sexiest movies based on Carmilla:

The 2014 Bret Wood film The Unwanted isa modern take on Carmilla with the leading lady named Carmilla (Christen Orr) who wants to find more information about her estranged mother. She comes to a small town hoping to learn answers, but she meets waitress Laura (Hannah Fierman) and falls in love. If only it were that simple! Their relationship progresses along with the vampire secrets!

The 1999 film The Vampire Carmilla is pretty true to the original story.Stacia Crawford plays Laura who makes her way to a small town to find more information after the death of her sister (Marina Morgan). She soon comes across - who else? - Carmilla played by Bootsie Cairns. Carmilla and her daughters of darkness go nude often throughout this film from Jay Lind and Denise Templeton.

1970's Roy Ward Baker film The Vampire Loversis the first in a trilogy from HammerFilms based on Carmilla. Hammer made low-budget horror films that look pretty excellent with gorgeous cinematography and beautiful actresses. Hammer Films took on the Carmilla Karnnstein story in what is commonly known at The Hammer Karnstein Trilogy. The Vampire Lovers is the first in the trilogy starringIngrid Pittas the vampire queen Carmilla and Pippa Steel plays the innocent Laura. Madeline Smith plays Emma, another victim of the countess, who has a very hot scene with Ingrid.

Following The Vampire Lovers is Lust for a Vampire which also stars Pippa Steel. This time Yutte Stensgaard plays Carmilla/Mircalla and shows her round breasts throughout the movie as she continues to seek female lovers to bring into her den of darkness.

Twins of Evil rounds out the Hammer Karnstein trilogy. This film is a prequel starring the infamous Collinson twins. Mary and Madeleine Collinson made nude history when they became the first identical twin Playmates to grace Playboy. With that acclaim, they were the perfect stars in this prequel set in 1700 about sexy twins. One twin is evil and becomes a vampire while the other tries to save her sister from doom.

Lesbian Vampire Killers is only loosely based on Carmilla. The story goes that a roving pack of lesbian vampires is stealing men's girlfriends in a rural town. The vampire queen? Carmilla!

The Blood Spattered Bride is one of the best-known movies based on Carmilla - and one of the most skintastic! Maribel Martin plays a newlywed bride who becomes seduced by Carmilla (Alexandra Bastedo) who convinces/possesses her to brutally murder her husband.
