The Black Adder

No Nudity

Review

Rowan Atkinson’s Black Adder comedy series quickly gained cult favorite status when it was released in 1983, delivering big laughs in the period setting of Tudor England at the end of the War of the Roses. The story focuses on Richard IV's younger son Prince Edmund, an absolute coward who dubbed himself the Black Adder. Flanked by his even more moronic servant Baldrick (Tony Robinson) and the unfathomably moronic Lord Percy (Tim McInnerny), Edmund sneaks, snivels and plots to find his way to the throne of England. In later series, the Black Adder ancestry was explored with a season where Black Adder was a servant to Prince Edward, then another where he was a Lord under Queen Elizabeth and yet another where he was a soldier in the First World War. Oscar nominated hottie Miranda Richardson played Queen Elizabeth in the third series (hilariously), two years after showing her Blowfish (but no Hootie) in Dance with a Stranger.
