The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) is a camp classic about a trio of fabbo queens en route to a gig in a remote spot in the butt crack of the Outback. Terrence Stamp is Bernadette, a transsexual old broad who's tired of her job lip synching and strutting in garish get-ups; her partners-in-drag, Guy Pearce and Hugo Weaving, agree with their Golden Girl that they should get out of Sydney for a while and take a job offer in Alice Springs, where Hugo's former wife needs an act for her casino. Off they go, crossing the desert in a lavender school bus named "Priscilla" and courting queer looks from all sides. In typical road-film fashion, their ride breaks down, and they strike up a relationship with Bob the repairman (Bill Hunter), who joins them on their most fashionable journey to nowhere.
